Our Top 3 Summer Hairstyles Picks
The good weather over the past couple of days has put us in a summer holiday mood! On a positive note, it did bring about some productivity as we got thinking during our breaks in our hair salon Cork about the summer looks we think we will be popular this year. After some deliberation we agreed on our top three picks. We’ve also added a quick and easy explanation of each style so you can re-create the look at home:
Number 3 - Neat Ballerina Bun
If you’re heading to the sun this year the ballerina bun is a must to keep your hair up and out of your way. It’s easy to style, looks neat and can look practical yet stylish when done correctly.
Bun Style Guide:
-
Wash and blow dry hair straigh using salon shampoo and salon conditioner.
-
Style your hair up using salon styling products into a high ponytail and fasten with a hair tie.
-
Use hair pins to keep hair in place.
-
For a messier look, fluff up the hair tied up in then bun.
Number 2 - Elegant Fishtail Braid
This one is for those of you who have long hair (or great hair exentensions!). It’s cool, it’s chic, it’s practical and really suits the bohemian fashion that has been and continues to be so prominent. It’s also a very comfortable style. Unlike other braid styles, it is loose around the head and is very comfortable to wear.
Fishtail Braid Style Guide:
-
Gently pull your hair to one side but don’t fasten just yet.
-
Equally divide the hair into two parts.
-
Take a small strand of hair from under one of the pieces and wrap it over that strand before placing it under the other piece.
-
Repeat sides through the length of the tail.
-
Tie the end up with a hair tie. Pull out some random strands to create that messy look.
Number 1 - The Trusty Ponytail
We know you might be surprised to see this as our number one but fear not! It’s not just any old pony tail style. Add volume at the crown of your head through back combing and hairspray to morph this safe style into something new. This modern take on the traditional pony tail will keep you cool on those hot summer days.
Pony Tail Style Guide:
-
Wash hair. Let your damp hair dry naturally.
-
Gently backcomb at the crown to add a little lift.
-
Sleek the hair back into a ponytail at ear level or higher and fasten with a hair tie.
